DAY ONE- recording & filming
Our audio recording of Meg's Song.
On Tuesday 8th July we planned for Meg to come into school and record her song. We used a music recording room in school which minimised background sound from the school as much as possible. We used a Nikon d5200 to film on with a microphone plugged into the camera. Once i filmed it i used windows movie maker to change the video into an audio file. When i listened back to the sound there was a fuzz/buzzing in the background of the sound; this effected the quality. Using a software called audacity i was able to remove this. Before putting the file in audacity i had to convert the audio file into a WAV file; for it to be accepted in the software. When you import the file into audacity on the effects option there is a noise removal option. By first highlighting a small part of the sound which isnt anything playing to remove the fuzz you do this thden go: effect, noise removal, get noise profile, highlight the whole sound, noise removal and finally press okay. The file then had no fuzz in the background or very little. This software was new for me and I learnt how to use it by watching a quick youtube tutorial.
While Meg was free for a couple hours, when we finnished recording the sound we also decided to do a few bits of filming that after we have planned what we are doing for the video may want to use them. If not then it is just supporting footage that we have. I also took a few images of meg with her guitar. These are supporting evidence and could possibly be used in my digipak.
Before recording we had to test how the mic was with picking up the sound as we havent used an external microphone before. The second video is the one we have taken the audio from. With the video because we was using a DSLR camera to record and the microphone it was to much and has made the sound out of sync to the video, but doesnt matter to much as we arent using the video.
