The lonely Island is an American comedy music group that release parodies based on other artists work and use conventions of the comedic genre.

This parody is generally looking at Electronic Dance Music (EDM) as a genre. It stereotypes DJs and the type of people who listen to it. In my opinion when will the bass drop is a spoof of David Guetta; particularly part of the song David Guetta - Little Bad Girl ft. Shy Ronnie 2: Ronnie & Clyde (feat. Rihanna) is generally a parody of Rihanna. When researching I found that not only does The Lonely Islands video spoof typical videos of hers but also how she is also featured in others videos such as Eminem; and how still even though its not her video, she takes centre stage. For example, Love The Way You Lie and The Monster are actually Eminem’s songs which she features in. When comparing the parody with the original songs you also make links with how usually the raping is done when Rihanna isnt on screen. Rihanna proves Laura Mulvey’s term of ‘Male Gaze’; which is when women in film or here for example in music videos are there for men to look at. This is created by the way the camera angles are used to look at the womens body and other things such as mise en scene with the outfits she wears showing of her body.
